Unemployment data published this morning (17^th January) by the Office of National Statistics show unemployment remains low in the Lichfield constituency which includes Burntwood and surrounding villages as well as the City of Lichfield.

“Despite a slight uptick nationally, figures published today show that in December 2022 there were 1,375 actual claimants in Lichfield constituency, which was 2.4% of the population aged 16-64. The equivalent national claimant rate was 3.7%.  Meanwhile, there were 230 claimants aged 18-24, which was 3.9% of the population aged 18-24. The equivalent UK claimant rate was 4.6%.  And over the past year, the number of claimants has fallen by 165” says Michael Fabricant.

“This is a testament to the hard work ethic in our part of the midlands and to the high skills and education acquired by local people.  The Lichfield constituency consistently has a much lower unemployment rate than the national average.”
