Unemployment Still Low in Lichfield Constituency
Unemployment data published this morning (17th January) by the Office of National Statistics show unemployment remains low in the Lichfield constituency which includes Burntwood and surrounding villages as well as the City of Lichfield.
“Despite a slight uptick nationally, figures published today show that in December 2022 there were 1,375 actual claimants in Lichfield constituency, which was 2.4% of the population aged 16-64. The equivalent national claimant rate was 3.7%. Meanwhile, there were 230 claimants aged 18-24, which was 3.9% of the population aged 18-24. The equivalent UK claimant rate was 4.6%. And over the past year, the number of claimants has fallen by 165” says Michael Fabricant.
“This is a testament to the hard work ethic in our part of the midlands and to the high skills and education acquired by local people. The Lichfield constituency consistently has a much lower unemployment rate than the national average.”
