Michael Fabricant will be meeting Winnie the pig and local farmer, Chris Jackson, in Parliament Square on the night of Tuesday 2nd May.

Winnie has become something of a Westminster celebrity. He lives in a purpose built sty under the statue of Sir Winston Churchill directly facing the main entrance to the House of Commons. He is looked after, night and day, by teams of pig farmers from all over the country protesting against Government policy.

“Labour has forced British pig farmers to put up their cost to consumers to ensure that British pigs are well cared for”, says Michael Fabricant. “So supermarkets are importing European pig meat which costs less because the pigs are reared in atrocious conditions of cruelty. By creating a market for this pig meat, the Government is unwittingly perpetuating cruel practices on the continent while British farmers go out of business”.

Chris Jackson of Bagots Bromley Farm near Abbots Bromley will be doing the 10pm Tuesday 2nd May to 10am Wednesday 3rd May ‘graveyard’ slot in Parliament Square. Michael Fabricant will meet him first and “fortify him with a stiff scotch in a House of Commons bar to warm him before the all-night vigil. After meeting Chris, I will walk across the road to be introduced to Winnie” says Michael.
