FABRICANT VISITS MERCIAN 1206 AIR TRAINING CORPS SQUADRON IN LICHFIELD
Following his laying a wreath on behalf of Parliament at the National Memorial Arboretum at 11am on 11th November, Michael visited the Mercian 1206 Air Training Corps at their HQ in the evening. Michael is their Honorary President.
Michael spoke to the cadets, answered questions and later participated in a short Service of Remembrance conducted by the Chaplain to the Corps, Canon Andrew Stead of Lichfield Cathedral.
Michael says “After explaining the work of an MP, I answered questions ranging from how I handle social media, especially twitter, to which is the most exotic country I have ever visited. I also let them into some secrets regarding texts between me and David Cameron regarding twitter!
“Prior to speaking to the Cadets, I received a briefing from their Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Chris Kelly. Among other things I learned is that they are currently seeking a volunteer with some military music experience who can instruct their Corps of Drums. I hope someone might be able to help.
“The one thing I didn’t get to have a go on was their flight simulator. Perhaps next time.”
For anyone wishing to join the Mercian 1206 Air Training Squadron which is HQ’d at Cherry Orchard in Lichfield – male and female cadets are accepted from Lichfield and way beyond – or wish to volunteer their services (including those who wish to provide Corps of Drums or other instruction) should email 1206@aircadets.org
