“The Office for National Statistics has just published unemployment rates for the Lichfield Parliamentary constituency for June and, once again, they are way below the national and European averages” says Michael Fabricant.

“Last month, there were 1,385 claimants in the Lichfield constituency, which represents 2.4% of the population aged 16-64. The equivalent UK claimant rate was 3.7%.  Youth unemployment was also relatively low being 220 claimants aged 18-24, which was 3.7% of the population aged 18-24. The equivalent UK claimant rate was 4.7%.

“Once again, this demonstrates the work ethic and high skills and education attained by local residents along with the many employment opportunities in the area” Michael adds.
