It is still not too late to vote if you don’t have Voter ID
Michael Fabricant says: “In common with other parts of the UK, most of Europe, Canada and elsewhere, you must have an approved form of photo identification in England when you turn up at the polling station to vote such as your passport or driving licence. Ninety-eight per cent of people already possess suitable voter I.D.”
The list of suitable I.D. documents can be found here.
“But if you’re one of the 2% who doesn’t have suitable I.D. and forgot to apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate, you can still vote by appointing a proxy – who must have the correct photo I.D. As late as 5pm on Thursday, polling day, you can appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf.
“There really is no excuse to give up your democratic rights” says Michael.
Information on applying for a proxy can be found here.
