Often, on social media, I get comments like “I bet you’ll claim THAT on expenses!”

Well, no, I can’t.

A lot has changed since the MPs’ expenses scandal in 2009. Despite this, I know that there are still some commonly held beliefs amongst the public that are incorrect, misleading and ultimately harmful for our democracy.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) control what MPs can and cannot claim.  By far the biggest constituent is for the salaries of staff employed to help my constituents in the Lichfield constituency.
