Michael Proposes Naked Cycle Ride for St Giles Hospice as a Funds Raiser
Michael Fabricant is proposing a naked cycle ride as a novel fund raiser for the Saint Giles Hospice based in his constituency but which operates in the West Midlands. Naked cycle rides are fund raising events which take place annually in over 70 locations world wide. He explains how it would work in a video.
The Hospice is supporting Michael’s proposal, with Emma Hodges, Group Chief Executive stating, “People do all sorts of things to raise money for St Giles Hospice and we are incredibly grateful for Michael’s involvement. His plan for a naked cycle ride is definitely one of the more unusual events, which we hope will raise funds and awareness for our local hospice.”
Prime Minister Theresa May’s official spokesman said: “The Prime Minister wishes Michael the very best of luck with his fundraising.
“He is raising money for an excellent cause and I’m sure that St Giles’ Hospice will be very grateful for his efforts.”
St Giles relies heavily on the good-will of others, with their website stating, ”we have to raise over £6 million from voluntary sources each year in order to provide hospice care locally, 80% of which is in people’s homes and communities. We are experiencing the triple impact of more people needing our care, no growth in our voluntary income, and pressure on maintaining our NHS income which has seen some reductions in 2016/17.”
