MICHAEL SIGNS UP FOR THE SUMMER READING CHALLENGE AT LICHFIELD LIBRARY
Along with hundreds of other residents, Michael Fabricant signed the Summer Reading Challenge at the Library at The Friary, Lichfield on Saturday 11th July. Michael, and other adults, pledged to encourage others to read with children this summer, while children pledged to visit the library and read over the summer.
Michael says “The summer reading challenge is all about getting young people to read and also to get into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most pledges received for any reading campaign. Pledges are being collected throughout the UK and at local libraries between the 10th and 13th July.
“It was great to see so many young people in Lichfield Library and I am told queues were building up at 9am when the Library opened on Saturday morning.
“There is no alternative to reading. It’s important for a child’s future, but, in any event, your mind’s eye is always brighter than any tv, computer, or cinema screen” Michael adds.
