UNEMPLOYMENT FALLS AGAIN IN LICHFIELD CONSTITUENCY TO JUST 1.1%
Unemployment has fallen again in the Lichfield Parliamentary Constituency which includes Burntwood and the surrounding villages. Latest figures released today (17th September) show unemployment at just 1.1%.
Michael Fabricant says: “Unemployment continues to fall in Lichfield, Burntwood and the surrounding area. It now stands at just 1.1% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 585th highest of the 650 UK constituencies where 1st has the highest rate of unemployment and 650th has the lowest rate of unemployment.
“The number of claimants is 527 lower than in August 2013 and 65 lower than in July 2014.
“This is testimony to the skill and education of local people and to the development plans of Lichfield District Council. A figure as low as 1.1% signifies virtually no unemployment as around 1% of the population are generally unemployed in between changing jobs. These figures are produced to International Labour Organisation specification by the Office for National Statistics.”
