MICHAEL OPENS THE REFURBISHED ALREWAS CRICKET CLUB
Michael Fabricant today (Monday 26th May) watched Staffordshire Ladies beat the All Ireland Ladies Cricket Team at Alrewas Cricket Club and then opened its newly refurbished premises.
Michael told Club Members: “The refurbishment cost £130,000 with £30,000 being donated locally, £50,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund, and the remaining £50,000 from the Lafarge-Tarmac Landfill Communities Fund. You can really be proud of what you have already achieved and I want to give special thanks not only to the donors, but to Tim Aston who was the project’s manager.” Michael added “Please forgive my stumbling over the name ‘Lafarge’, but after the events of the last few days I almost said ‘Farage’.”
The work on the Club house included better changing facilities and toilets, disabled access, and major environmental improvements. The Club is now open to a wide range of sporting and community groups in and around the village of Armitage.
