As of today, Michael Fabricant now has 1,000 Facebook Friends and says
"This is a landmark! Most are from Lichfield and the surrounding area
though I suspect a few are London journalists and Labour Party
apparatchiks monitoring the site. I still have a little way to go
though to catch up with Obama – apparently he has over 200,000 Facebook
friends.

"But my Facebook page came into its own recently following the tragic
murder of Michael Eccles with his friends posting notes on my pages.
The transfer of information gave comfort to many.

"Facebook is a good and informal way of keeping in touch with many of my
constituents and it’s great to go into a pub or somewhere and hear
someone say: ‘Hey, I’m your friend on Facebook’.

"But before people think I’m a saddo, I do want to add I have ‘regular’
friends too", Michael jokes.
