ECO TOWNS (2)
Further to the News Release below of 2nd April (see link below), it has
now been confirmed by the Department of Communities and Local Government
that Curborough/Fradley has been included in the list of 15 possible
locations for an ‘eco town’
Michael Fabricant now says: "I will now speak with councillors in the
local planning authority – Lichfield District Council – and seek their
advice as to how they want to proceed. After all, it should be local
councillors – not the region based in Birmingham – who make this major
planning decision.
"But my initial view is that by linking Lichfield with Fradley, it will
transform Lichfield from being a small, friendly City into being a large
urban sprawl. Personally, I regret that move.
"There are many questions to be answered including: is this major
project part of the existing house build requirement for Lichfield or
will this be an additional imposition by Government? I will be seeking
answers from ministers."
