FLOODING IN THE LICHFIELD CONSTITUENCY
Michael Fabricant will be meeting with officials from Lichfield District
Council, the Civil Contingencies Unit and other agencies late next week
to discuss flooding in his constituency.
"I have resisted the temptation to visit the work currently being
undertaken to relieve flooding and to prevent further flooding. I know
this would be an unwelcome distraction to those involved in this crucial
work" says Michael Fabricant. "Instead, I shall be meeting with Nina
Dawes and senior officials of Gold Command in Lichfield and the Civil
Contingencies Unit next Friday when, I hope, the floods will have
abated.
"I will want to know what work has been undertaken to relieve the
flooding and help residents, what structural work and assistance to
residents still need to be undertaken, whether the infrastructure such
as roads drainage met the challenge, what work can be undertaken over
the next few months to prevent further flooding, and what lessons have
been learned for the future. I shall also be asking what help I can
give acting as a conduit to Government ministers and national
resources."
The meeting will be held at Lichfield District Council’s offices at noon
on Friday 6th July.
