AXE FACING BONEY HAY COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL, BURNTWOOD
With falling rolls of primary school children in Staffordshire, Boney
Hay School is facing possible closure in August 2008 with no further
admissions from September 2007. This is opposed by Michael Fabricant
who is already receiving letters from worried parents.
Michael Fabricant says: "I am not convinced that closure is wise. I
have visited Boney Hay and am impressed by the bright, airy and friendly
atmosphere of the School. With developments planned for Burntwood and
the population set to rise again, I believe the closure of the School
would be a shortsighted mistake.
"There is a currently a period of consultation and I have written to
Staffordshire County Council asking them to reconsider their plans. If
the School does close, there will be many disappointed children,
parents, and staff."
