GOVERNMENT’S LACK OF ACTION ON SUB POST OFFICES IS INEXCUSABLE
Commenting on today’s warning by the National Federation of Subpostmasters that Britain’s network of sub post offices is in ‘serious danger of extinction,’ the Shadow Minister for Industry and Technology, Michael Fabricant, said:
“The Federation is right to press the alarm button. It is not just rural post offices under threat. The whole network faces catastrophe. The Government’s lack of action is inexcusable.
“I was present when the subpostmasters launched their manifesto which deserves serious consideration. A Conservative Government would implement many of their recommendations.
We would introduce additional services at Post Offices to make them one-stop shops in villages and deprived communities, so ensuring their long-term viability. We would announce these changes on Day One of a Conservative Government.”
