MICHAEL FABRICANT OPENS WOODLAND WILDFLOWER PROJECT
Michael Fabricant today (Sunday 3rd November) opened the Woodland Wildflower
Project at the Pipe Hill Farm Woodland Plantation, Abnalls Lane in
Lichfield. Opening the event he said "It is not just the wild flowers,
the flora, we are re-establishing here today, but the fauna too. Dormice,
beetles, and butterflies will return here as they once were before. We are
re-establishing nature for the future benefit of the people of Burntwood and
Lichfield. I pay tribute to the work of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
and the Forest of Mercia who have cooperated to establish this Project".
Michael then sowed a mixture of seeds including bluebells, foxglove, red
campion, yellow archangel, and wild daffodils which are all indigenous wild
flowers in the area.
