Though getting drenched by the near constant drizzle, Michael says:
"Despite the weather, the Bower yet again was a huge success for Lichfield
and for Lichfield charities. I congratulate all the organisers and
participators in this unique event – including the charity collectors –
which helps make Lichfield so very different from other towns and cities.
There is a very real sense of involvement and commitment in our City which
we must take care never to lose or take for granted. Lichfield has a
unique ability to adapt ancient customs stretching back around 1,000 years
to a good and worthwhile modern use".
