Fabricant In Plan For Holiday To Mark Queen Queen Mother’s 100th Birthday
Michael Fabricant has joined with backbench Labour and Liberal MPs to call on the Government to create a special holiday, for this year only, to mark Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother’s 100th birthday. This holiday would be on the Monday following the anniversary of her birth.
“The Queen Mother has served our nation for 64 years including grim and dangerous times during the second world war when even Buckingham Palace was bombed”, says Michael Fabricant. “When European royal families evacuated to North America and elsewhere, our King and Queen remained in London and visited all parts of the country during the worst years of the blitz.
“Since the war, she has given outstanding public service. I believe that at a time when our institutions – including the monarchy and the unity of the United Kingdom itself – are under constant criticism from certain politicians, the nation should mark the 100th birthday of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother with a national holiday of thanksgiving
